Setup And Operating Instructions For
MM2-S Bar Stock Marker
Serial Number: 1526 and higher

  1. Unpack the machine and level using the level pads provided or secure to the floor. (Securing to the floor is optional)
  2. Screw out riggers to each side of the machine using dowel pins and bolts provided.
  3. Wire the machine and make sure the bottom shaft turns clockwise. A qualified electrician should do this.
NOTE: You are now ready to use the bar marking machine. With Machine Off
  1. Lower front guard.
  2. Remove jam nuts on upper and lower shaft and slide marking roll on bottom shaft; on top shaft you may use another marking roll or a blank support roll.
  3. Replace jam nuts.
  4. Place bar to be marked on outrigger to the left side of the machine.
  5. Adjust v-roller cradle by turning elevating screw so the bar rides on the lower marking wheel.
  6. Lock the elevating screw by using the lock nut on the shaft of the elevating screw.
  7. Adjust the guide rollers to keep the bar to be marked centered between rolls and lock in place by tightening the shoulder screws.
  8. Lower top wheel until it touches the bar by turning the hand wheel on the top of the machine.
  9. Remove the bar from between the rolls.
  10. Turn hand wheel clock wise one full turn.
  11. Return front cover to up position and lock. (DO NOT OPEN FRONT COVER WHILE THE MACHINE IS RUNNING)
  12. Turn on machine.
  13. Push bar between v-roller and guide rolls and allow the marking rolls to pull the bar through the machine.
  14. Retrieve bar from the right side of the machine and inspect the markings.
  15. If a deeper mark is required, turn hand wheel clockwise until the proper mark is obtained.
At operating position the machine noise level does not exceed 7OdB(A). NOTE: Larger and more marking nomenclature will require more pressure to mark. Care Of Machine Lubrication of machine should be done once a week.
  1. Shafts: Grease four zirks, located on the right side of the machine using Amoco Super Permalube Cn-mw.
  2. CTtw Case: Remove front cover of lower cabinet to expose the gear drive. Check the gear oil in accordance with Boston Gear specifications provided.
